Agatha Corcoran, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Agatha Corcoran, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been operating her own private practice (Atlantic Counselling) for the past 12 years. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master of Social Work Degree specializing in Addictions and Mental Health. Prior to that she earned a Bachelor of Social Work Degree and a Certificate of Criminology from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Agatha specializes in Alcohol and Drug Dependency and works continually with clients diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder who have been deeply affected by domestic violence/abuse/trauma. She also provides intervention to clients struggling with grief/loss, depression and anxiety. She is a Certified Responder in Critical Incident Stress Management for Individuals and Groups and has extensive experience in Crisis Intervention and conducting Suicide Risk Assessments.

Agatha specializes in Individual Therapy in the areas of Addictions, PTSD, Grief/Loss, Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence and Trauma/Abuse.


Bob Ryan, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Bob Ryan BSW, MSW, RSW is a Registered Clinical Social Worker with over 17 years of experience in providing intervention to Individuals, Couples and Families. He graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Masters of Social Work Degree and a Bachelor of Social Work Degree.

Bob has worked extensively with clients in both Rural and Urban settings where he has gained valuable experience working in all areas related to Mental Health and Addictions. He has direct experience as a Clinical Supervisor of a Mental Health Therapist team.

Bob specializes in Individual, Relationship and Family Therapy. He has trained in and utilizes, Emotionally Focused Therapy in his work with Couples. He provides intervention for those struggling with Separation/Divorce, Depression, Anxiety, Grief/Loss, and Parenting Challenges.

Carolyn Bruss, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Carolyn Bruss, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received both her Bachelor of Social Work and Masters of Social Work Degrees from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

With over 25 years of experience, Carolyn has worked extensively in the field of Community Mental Health, providing Individual and Group Counselling. She has provided leadership to an Intensive Case Management Team who support individuals experiencing complex mental illness. Carolyn has received additional training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She has a strong belief in each person's capacity to grow and develop a full and meaningful life.

Carolyn specializes in Individual Therapy in the areas of Mental Health including Anxiety, Depression, Borderline Personality Disorder and Trauma/Abuse. She also provides intervention in the areas of Grief and Loss, Separation/Divorce and Life Transition Issues.

Claude Quigley, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Claude Quigley, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 35 years of experience. He graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Master of Social Work Degree with a specific focus on the assessment and treatment of Male Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse. He also earned a Bachelor of Social Work Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Memorial University. He earned an Alcohol and Drug Addiction Certificate from the Public Service Commission of Newfoundland and Labrador. He is a recipient of the Award of Excellence for Field Education from Memorial University, School of Social Work.

Claude has vast experience in Individual, Marital, Group and Family Therapy through his work in the Provincial Health Care and Social Services Programs. He has gained externship from the University of Ottawa with specialization in advanced clinical training in Emotionally Focused Relationship Therapy.

He is well-versed and experienced in issues related to Foster Parenting, Child-Youth and Family Services; and Trauma Therapy. He has extensive experience in volunteering with Pastoral Care and Ethics Department of Eastern Health.

Claude specializes in Couple, Family and Relationship Therapy, Addiction, Trauma/Abuse, Crisis Intervention, Depression, Anxiety, Chronic Illness, and Anger Management.

Gordon Piercey, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Gordon Piercey, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 21 years experience. He graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Master of Social Work Degree and a Bachelor of Social Work Degree.

Gordon trained in the areas of Child Development, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Adolescent Mental Health. He has extensive experience in Provincial Health Care systems (Rural and Urban) and working in Hospital/Long Term Care, Child Health and Child Mental Health. Gordon is experienced working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder and Learning Exceptionalities. He also brings his knowledge as a Trainer/Facilitator with Violence Awareness and Action (Violence Prevention)

Gordon specializes in working with older Adolescents (16-18) and Adults through Individual, Couple and/or Family Therapy. He provides intervention in the areas of Anger Management, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma/Abuse, Parenting Challenges, and Relationship Difficulties.

Janet Meaney, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Janet Meaney, BBA, BSc(H), MEd (Counselling Psychology), CCC is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with over 13 years experience. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology and a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Janet has extensive work experience in the area of severe and complex Mental illness and in providing Individual and Group Therapy. She is a Certified Responder in Critical Incident Stress Management for Individuals and Groups and has substantial experience providing debriefings following crisis situations. Janet is a well-versed presenter and has presented on Core Concepts of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Boundaries, Mental Illness and Debriefing Crisis to both community and government agencies.

Janet specializes in Individual Therapy in the areas of, Depression, Anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder, Addictions, Trauma/Abuse, PTSD, Grief/Loss, Suicidal Thoughts, Self Injury, Stress Management, Anger Management, Emotion Regulation, Mindfulness, Impulse Control, Caregiver Burnout and Compassion Fatigue, Parenting Issues and Conflictual Relationships.

Maxine Paul, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Maxine Paul, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Registered Social Worker licensed by the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers (NLASW).  Her Social Work education was completed at Memorial University of Newfoundland, with her Master of Social Work awarded in 1995.

Maxine has almost 35 years of Social Work practice experience and has focused on clinical counselling and therapy since 1998. Much of her past work was with Mental Health and Addictions at Eastern Health. In 2018 Maxine worked at Island Health in Victoria, British Columbia providing Short Term Therapy to people experiencing Mental Health crisis.

Maxine specializes in working with Adults and older Adolescents (16 - 18) and Families who are being impacted by Mental Health crisis, Substance Abuse, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD/Trauma, Grief/Loss, Violence, and Relationship Difficulties including Parenting Struggles.

Michelle Peddle, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Michelle Peddle, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from York University with a Master of Social Work Degree as well as a Bachelor of Social Work Degree (Honours). She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree � Sociology and a Certificate of Criminology from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Michelle has over 15 years experience as an Individual and Group Therapist. She has extensive experience providing individual and group therapy to individuals struggling with and impacted by Addiction and Mental Health.

Additionally, she has worked extensively with children impacted by parental substance use, pregnant women who struggle with addiction and women who have experienced trauma in their lives.

Michelle is well-versed and experienced working with individuals who are suicidal, individuals who experience suicidal ideation and individuals who engage in self-injurious behavior.

Michelle specializes in the areas of Addiction, Anxiety/Panic Disorders, Depression, Trauma, and Relationship Therapy.

Nancy Ossinger, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Nancy Ossinger, BA, MA, RCC is a registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association for Clinical Counsellors with over 18 years experience. She graduated from Trinity Western University with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Crandall University. Nancy trained in the area of Marriage and Family Therapy with a focus on Adult Attachment Theory and Behavior.

Nancy's goal is to help clients find ways to care for themselves and to move towards becoming the people they desire to be. . Her approach to working with clients is Holistic, Strength-Based and draws on a variety of techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused- Brief Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Meaning Centred Psychotherapy, and Family Systems Theory.

She has worked in both the Public and private sector including Private Practice, and Community Services agencies. She has experience as an Individual, Family and Group Therapist and has worked extensively with clients who are struggling with Addiction/Codependency, Substance Affected, Relationship and Parenting difficulties, Anxiety, Depression, Compassion Fatigue, Anger issues, and lack of Healthy Boundaries.

Natalie Benson-Goodyear, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Natalie Benson-Goodyear, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Master of Social Work, Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) and Certificate in Criminology.

Natalie has over 19 years of experience as an Individual, Couples and Family Therapist, and has worked in the Provincial Health Care System as well as Community based agencies. Natalie has received additional training in the areas of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Narrative Approaches. Through meaningfully therapeutic relationships, Natalie creates a safe environment for clients to explore the core of their distress and what needs to shift to enhance clients quality of life.

Tammy Manning, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Tammy Manning , BA, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 19 years of experience. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Masters of Social Work, Bachelors of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) and a Certificate in Criminology.

Tammy has worked extensively in the area of Mental Health and Addictions. She has comprehensive experience in working with individuals with Severe and Complex Mental Illness, Concurrent Disorders, Complex Trauma, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder using a variety of therapeutic approaches. Tammy has considerable experience as an Individual Therapist and Group Facilitator. Tammy builds strong relationships with clients and believes in client strength and resilience.

Tammy specializes in Individual Therapy in the areas of Addictions, Concurrent Disorders, PTSD/Complex Trauma, Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse, Mood Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, Anger Management and Compassion Fatigue.

Valerie Mitchelmore, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Valerie Mitchelmore, MSW, RSW is a registered Social Worker who received both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Social Work from Memorial University of Newfoundland. When she completed her MSW, she was awarded a Fellowship of Graduate Studies for Academic excellence. Since graduating, she has received additional training in Narrative and Brief Intervention Therapies, Addictions, Suicide Intervention, working with people impacted by Trauma, in addition to many other areas relevant to Social Work and Mental Health practice. She has worked primarily with Individuals, from Children to Seniors, as well as Families and Groups.

Valerie has practiced for over 26 years in the areas of Mental Health and Addictions, both in Rural and Urban areas, and primarily in Community Based Mental Health settings. She practices from a Strengths Based Perspective, and strongly believes in her clients' ability to make changes that will increase their coping, well-being, relationships, and improve their quality of life. She will work diligently with you to help you achieve your therapy goals.

Valerie's areas of specialty include providing intervention to with people affected by Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Trauma and Addictions. She also assists people impacted by Grief, Loss, Parenting Issues, and Emotional Regulation.

Vanessa McEntegart, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Vanessa McEntegart (BSW, MSW, RSW) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Vanessa graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with both a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work Degree.

Vanessa has worked extensively in the field of Mental Health and Addictions for over 9 years, in both rural and urban settings. Vanessa has a great passion for assisting and supporting individuals to improve the quality of their lives, She believes that all individuals have strengths and through identifying/fostering these strengths, healing and growth can occur.

Vanessa specializes and is deeply committed to the intervention she provides to individuals who are coping with Addictions, Trauma and Concurrent issues. Vanessa's experience in Therapeutic work has been both from an Individual and Group counselling approach. Vanessa also has experience in facilitating workshops and presentations in the area o f Mental Health and Addictions.
