Agatha Corcoran, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Agatha Corcoran, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been operating her own private practice (Atlantic Counselling) for the past 10 years. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master of Social Work Degree specializing in Addictions and Mental Health. Prior to that she earned a Bachelor of Social Work Degree and a Certificate of Criminology from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Agatha specializes in Alcohol and Drug Dependency and works continually with clients diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder who have been deeply affected by domestic violence/abuse/trauma. She also provides intervention to clients struggling with grief/loss, depression and anxiety. She is a Certified Responder in Critical Incident Stress Management for Individuals and Groups and has extensive experience in Crisis Intervention and conducting Suicide Risk Assessments. Agatha is Certified as a Registered Substance Abuse Expert (RSAE) accredited by the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation.

Agatha was awarded the Arnold Morrissey Award by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health for performing with distinction in the practicum setting and the Irene Shapiro and David Shapiro Memorial Award by the University of Toronto for research interests related to Depression and Suicide.

Agatha specializes in Individual Therapy in the areas of Addictions, Grief/Loss, Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence and Trauma/Abuse.


Bob Ryan, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Bob Ryan BSW, MSW, RSW is a Registered Clinical Social Worker with over 16 years of experience in providing intervention to Individuals, Couples and Families. He graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Masters of Social Work Degree and a Bachelor of Social Work Degree.

Bob has worked extensively with clients in both Rural and Urban settings where he has gained valuable experience working in all areas related to Mental Health and Addictions. He has direct experience as a Clinical Supervisor of a Mental Health Therapist team.

Bob specializes in Individual, Relationship and Family Therapy. He has trained in and utilizes, Emotionally Focused Therapy in his work with Couples. He provides intervention for those struggling with Separation/Divorce, Depression, Anxiety, Grief/Loss, and Parenting Challenges/

Gordon Piercey, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Gordon Piercey, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years experience. He graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Master of Social Work Degree and a Bachelor of Social Work Degree.

Gordon trained in the areas of Child Development, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Adolescent Mental Health. He has extensive experience in Provincial Health Care systems (Rural and Urban) and working in Hospital/Long Term Care, Child Health and Child Mental Health. Gordon is experienced working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder and Learning Exceptionalities. He also brings his knowledge as a Trainer/Facilitator with Violence Awareness and Action (Violence Prevention)

Gordon specializes in working with older Adolescents (16-18) and Adults through Individual, Couple and/or Family Therapy. He provides intervention in the areas of Anger Management, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma/Abuse, Parenting Challenges, and Relationship Difficulties.

Janet Meaney, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Janet Meaney, BBA, BSc(H), MEd (Counselling Psychology), CCC is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with over 12 years experience. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology and a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Janet has extensive work experience in the area of severe and complex mental illness and in providing Individual and Group Therapy to those struggling with and impacted by addictions, mental health, trauma and aggressive behavior. She is a Certified Responder in Critical Incident Stress Management for Individuals and Groups and has substantial experience providing debriefings following crisis situations. Janet is a well-versed presenter and has presented on Core Concepts of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Boundaries, Mental Illness and Debriefing Crisis to both community and government agencies.

Janet specializes in Individual Therapy in the areas of, Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress, Borderline Personality Disorder, Addictions, Trauma/Abuse, Grief/Loss, Suicidal Thoughts, Self Injury, Stress Management, Anger Management, Emotion Regulation, Mindfulness, Impulse Control, Caregiver Burnout and Compassion Fatigue.

Mary Fearon, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Mary Fearon BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Registered Social Worker. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree and The University of Toronto with a Master of Social Work Degree specializing in Clinical Counselling in Mental Health.

Mary has spent the last 20 years working with Families and Youth in different capacities including as an Educator and Community Advocate. She has developed and facilitated Parenting Programs, researching Best Practices in the area of Infant Mental Health, and offered counseling for Individuals coping with Trauma, Addictions and Concurrent issues. Mary also has experience facilitating Workshops and Presentations in the area of Mental Health and Brain Development.

She has worked with Families and children focusing on Parenting Issues and Transitions. Mary offers a variety of therapy approaches including Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She has worked with older Adolescents (16+) and Adults in the areas of Addictions, Depression, Anxiety, Stress Management, Parenting Issues, Life Transitions, and Trauma related issues.

Michelle Peddle, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Michelle Peddle, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from York University with a Master of Social Work Degree as well as a Bachelor of Social Work Degree (Honours). She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree � Sociology and a Certificate of Criminology from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Michelle has over 14 years experience as an Individual and Group Therapist. She has extensive experience providing individual and group therapy to individuals struggling with and impacted by Addiction and Mental Health.

Additionally, she has worked extensively with children impacted by parental substance use, pregnant women who struggle with addiction and women who have experienced trauma in their lives.

Michelle is well-versed and experienced working with individuals who are suicidal, individuals who experience suicidal ideation and individuals who engage in self-injurious behavior.

Michelle specializes in the areas of Addiction, Anxiety/Panic Disorders, Depression, Trauma, and Relationship Therapy.

Natalie Benson-Goodyear, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Natalie Benson-Goodyear, BA, BSW, MSW, RSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Master of Social Work, Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) and Certificate in Criminology.

Natalie has over 18 years of experience as an Individual, Couples and Family Therapist, and has worked in the Provincial Health Care System as well as Community based agencies. Natalie has received additional training in the areas of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Narrative Approaches. Through meaningfully therapeutic relationships, Natalie creates a safe environment for clients to explore the core of their distress and what needs to shift to enhance clients� quality of life.

Natalie has worked extensively with clients who have experienced difficult life transitions such as Relationship challenges, Separation/Divorce, Parenting concerns, Workplace Stress, Illness adjustment, Grief and Loss, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma/Abuse, and Addictions.

Valerie Mitchelmore, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Valerie Mitchelmore, MSW, RSW is a registered Social Worker who received both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Social Work from Memorial University of Newfoundland. When she completed her MSW, she was awarded a Fellowship of Graduate Studies for Academic excellence. Since graduating, she has received additional training in Narrative and Brief Intervention Therapies, Addictions, Suicide Intervention, working with people impacted by Trauma, in addition to many other areas relevant to Social Work and Mental Health practice. She has worked primarily with Individuals, from Children to Seniors, as well as Families and Groups.

Valerie has practiced for over 25 years in the areas of Mental Health and Addictions, both in Rural and Urban areas, and primarily in Community Based Mental Health settings. She practices from a Strengths Based Perspective, and strongly believes in her clients' ability to make changes that will increase their coping, well-being, relationships, and improve their quality of life. She will work diligently with you to help you achieve your therapy goals.

Valerie's areas of specialty include providing intervention to with people affected by Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Trauma and Addictions. She also assists people impacted by Grief, Loss, Parenting Issues, and Emotional Regulation.

Vanessa McEntegart, Therapist, Atlantic Counselling

Vanessa McEntegart (BSW, MSW, RSW) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Vanessa graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with both a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work Degree.

Vanessa has worked extensively in the field of Mental Health and Addictions for over 8 years, in both rural and urban settings. Vanessa has a great passion for assisting and supporting individuals to improve the quality of their lives, She believes that all individuals have strengths and through identifying/fostering these strengths, healing and growth can occur.

Vanessa specializes and is deeply committed to the intervention she provides to individuals who are coping with Addictions, Trauma and Concurrent issues. Vanessa�s experience in Therapeutic work has been both from an Individual and Group counselling approach. Vanessa also has experience in facilitating workshops and presentations in the area o f Mental Health and Addictions.
